Project Niagara
Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario

Project Niagara was an planning, concept design and feasibility study for a new outdoor festival site to serve as the Summer home for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the National Arts Centre Orchestra of Ottawa. Project scope included site selection, programming, financial feasibility and concept design. The selected site, a heavily forested site on the south shore of Lake Ontario, offers a distant view to the Toronto skyline and includes an historic War of 1812 battle site. Site planning mandated that the battlefield remain undisturbed and a small interpretive centre be planned. The main performance venue would anticipate a four-month use, while the larger parklands, indoor performance venue and restaurant would enjoy longer operating seasons. This project is yet unrealized.
